United Airlines Reinstates Nonstop Service Between Sacramento, California, and Washington Dulles
June 3 - United Airlines reinstated daily nonstop, transcontinental service between Sacramento International Airport (SMF) and its Washington, D.C., hub at Dulles International Airport (IAD). The new Washington, D.C., service complements United's existing 29 daily nonstop flights from Sacramento to its other U.S. hubs in Chicago, Denver, Los Angeles and San Francisco, as well as to Eureka, Calif.

United Announces Low Fares, Double Miles to Cody, Wyoming
June 3 - United Airlines will offer introductory fares as low as $60 each way* based on required roundtrip travel, and a double miles bonus offer for new seasonal service this summer from United’s hub at Denver International Airport (DEN) to Yellowstone Regional Airport (COD) in Cody, Wyoming. New service will operate from June 3 to September 30, 2004.

United Begins Daily Nonstop Service between Washington Dulles and Zurich
June 3 -- United Airlines aunched its daily nonstop service between Washington/Dulles International Airport (IAD) and Zurich, Switzerland (ZRH), becoming the only airline to offer daily nonstop flights between the two cities.

United Begins Daily Nonstop Service between Chicago and Honolulu
June 3 - United Airlines relaunched its daily nonstop service between Chicago O'Hare International Airport (ORD) and Honolulu (HNL). The new Chicago service will complement United's existing 24 daily nonstop flights to Hawaii from its other U.S. hubs in Los Angeles, San Francisco and Denver.

America West Initiates New Flight Between Its Phoenix Hub and Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport
June 1 -- America West Airlines began operating a third daily nonstop, roundtrip flight between its Phoenix hub and Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport (DCA). In April, America West was granted authority as the only airline to operate this additional long-haul flight between Phoenix and Washington National by the U.S. Department of Transportation in conjunction with the Vision 100 - Century of Aviation Reauthorization Act.

America West's FlightFund(R) Offers Take 2 and reLAX With a Friend Promotion
June 2 -- Members of FlightFund(R) who fly two roundtrip nonstop flights from Los Angeles (LAX) to Boston, New York/JFK or Washington, D.C./Dulles can earn a companion pass to one of nine nonstop destinations originating from Los Angeles (LAX). The companion pass may be used to take a friend to any of the following America West destinations: Boston; Edmonton, Alberta; Las Vegas; Mazatlan, Mexico; New York/JFK; Phoenix; Puerto Vallarta, Mexico; Vancouver, British Columbia; and Washington, D.C.

US Airways to begin codeshare with Bahamasair
June 3, 2004 -- US Airways today filed an application with the U.S. Department of Transportation to begin codesharing with Bahamasair, the flag carrier of the Islands of the Bahamas, later this summer.

Continental Airlines Announces New Fare Increase
June 3 -- Continental has raised select fares in most markets effective immediately. The fare increase is $10 each way for flights up to 1,000 miles, and $20 each way for flights over 1,000 miles. It applies to all published first class and unrestricted fares and some discounted economy class fares for travel in the 50 United States (excluding certain markets) and between the United States and Canada.

oneworld releases Swiss International Air Lines from its commitment to join the global alliance
June 3 -- oneworld has released Swiss International Air Lines from its commitment to join the global alliance. The move follows an agreement between the airline and established oneworld partner British Airways to free SWISS, at its request, from the bilateral commercial agreement they signed in October 2003, which was a fundamental condition of it becoming a member of the global alliance. All code-shares and bilateral relationships between SWISS and the other existing individual oneworld partners remain in place.

U.S. to screen Europeans' PNR data
June 1 -- For security reasons, the U.S. will be able to scrutinize passenger-name-record data for European travelers because of a multiyear agreement reached between U.S. and European negotiators.

Heathrow checked bags go on a diet
June 1 -- Don't pack that 33rd bag of sugar. Beginning June 1, passengers traveling through London's Heathrow Airport will only be able to check-in bags that weigh 70 pounds or less.
