United Implements Fare Increase to International Destinations
June 30 -- United implemented a 5 percent fare increase on most flights to international destinations that originate in the U.S. The fare increase has been put in place to help offset the impact of escalating fuel costs.

United Airlines Announces Start Date for New Nonstop Chicago-Shanghai Service
June 29-- United will begin new, daily nonstop service between Chicago O'Hare International Airport (ORD) and Shanghai's Pudong International Airport (PVG) effective October 31, 2004.

Ted meeting targets, gaining market share
July 02 -- Although it has been in the air for only a few months, Ted already is having an impact on the marketplace, according to United Airlines.

US Airways Added Syracuse, NY and Nashville GoFares for Washington, DC Travelers
July 1 -- US Airways’ Washington-Syracuse GoFares start as low as $89* each way in Coach, with last minute fares as low as $139* each way. Washington-Nashville GoFares begin at $99* each way, with last minute fares available as low as $159* each way. The lowest fares for both Syracuse and Nashville require an advance purchase.

Delta Launches New Nonstop Service from New York-JFK to Greensboro and San Diego
July 1 -- Delta Air Lines launches its new nonstop service between New York and Greensboro, N.C., and San Diego, Calif., today. Customers traveling to or from the three cities will be treated to gate and onboard festivities and surprises as Delta celebrates the two new daily, round-trip, nonstop flights each between New York’s John F. Kennedy International Airport (JFK) and Greensboro and San Diego.

Delta Connection Carriers to Realign Service at Huntington, W. Va.
July 1– Delta Connection carriers Atlantic Southeast Airlines (ASA) and Comair will realign flights to offer customers nonstop service between Huntington, W.Va., and Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky International Airport.

American Airlines To Discontinue Service In Cleveland
June 24 -- American Airlines would discontinue service in Cleveland on Sept. 8, due to economic reasons. At the same time, American's regional partner, American Eagle, will replace American's two daily flights and add more regional jet service.

New agreement brings SWA cabin staff to top of industry
July 02 -- It took the intervention of Chairman Herb Kelleher and more than two years before Southwest Airlines and its flight attendants were able to reach a tentative agreement on a new contract (ATWOnline, June 28).

Swiss to start all-business class route
July 1 -- Swiss said it will launch business jet service between Zurich, Germany, and Newark Jan. 15, copying a concept Lufthansa has proven can be successful in some Germany-U.S. markets.

JetBlue introduces CompanyBlue corporate tool
June 28 -- Corporate travelers now can book JetBlue flights on their company's intranet as JetBlue rolled out a corporate booking tool, CompanyBlue.

KLM opts for net-fare system in Netherlands
July 29 -- KLM is adopting a net-fare system in the Netherlands, where, as of Jan. 1, it will stop paying agents a booking fee and add a service charge for consumers who book directly.

Princess adds Europe shore excursions
June 25 -- Princess Cruises expanded its cruise-tour program in Europe with three new off-the-ship options in 2005.

Australia realigns tourism entities
July 1 -- Australia's Tourist Commission has been restructured and renamed Tourism Australia, in an effort to better market the country's tourism industry, according to Joe Hockey, Australia's minister for small business and tourism.

InterContinental Hotels Go Wireless at Holiday Inn Brand
July 1 -- Working with a company called Ameranth Wireless, InterContinental Hotels Group developed what it calls the 21st Century Hotel E-Menu system for its Holiday Inn brand.
