Heathrow Staff Plan August 27 Strike |

United Airlines ground
staff at London's Heathrow Airport plan to strike on August 27, the same
day British Airways staff have threatened a walkout, a union said on Friday.
The Transport & General Workers Union (TGWU) said about 700 United
Airlines baggage handlers and check-in staff at Heathrow would go on strike
for 24 hours from 0330 GMT next Friday. The union said in a statement
that United staff plan to strike after rejecting the company's pay offer. |

Announces Fare Sale to Popular Leisure Destinations
Chicago, Denver and Washington D.C. flights are on sale from $49-$99 each

Florida and Las Vegas. Fares are good for travel on Ted from Sept. 1,
2004 through Dec. 15, 2004, and tickets must be purchased 14 days in advance
with a minimum one-night and maximum 30-day stay. |

Airways Drops Special Meals
Effective September 1, 2004, there will be no special meals on domestic,
Caribbean and Latin American routes in coach and first class. Only flights
to and from Europe will offer special meals, which must be ordered 24 hours
in advance. |

Airways New Check-in Procedures at Philadelphia
August 6 - US Airways will change its check-in procedures for customers
traveling on any of the eight US Airways Express carriers and MidAtlantic
Airways from Philadelphia beginning Aug. 8, 2004. Customers will now check
in at the F terminal, from which Express and MidAtlantic flights depart.
Previously, customers checked in at the ticket counters between terminals
B and C, and were bussed to the F terminal from gate C16. |

Lufthansa
To Impose New Fuel Surcharges
August 16 -- Lufthansa today announced it will introduce a fuel surcharge
on all flights beginning Aug. 24. A surcharge of €2 (US$2.47) will
be imposed on each segment of domestic German flights and inter-European
flights. Long-haul flights will include a per-segment surcharge of €7
(US$8.64). In a statement, airline officials said the surcharges are temporary
but gave no indication of an expected date of expiration. |

Bush Inks Biometric Passport Deadline Extension
August 10 - President George W. Bush yesterday signed into law legislation
extending by 12 months the October 2004 deadline requiring passengers
from visa waiver countries to have passports containing biometric information
that can be scanned by computer. |

August 16 --US Airways will offer low, simple GoFares on its new nonstop
roundtrip Boston-Orlando service, with fares starting at $72* one-way,
and last-minute fares as low as $179* one-way. From Orlando, US Airways
currently operates nonstop service to 16 destinations. |

France joins others with fare increase
August 20 -- Effective Aug. 24, the airline will increase the fuel surcharge
by eur2 ($2.50) per flight leg on domestic services and by eur3 per leg
on medium-haul services to Europe and Africa. On long-haul routes the
surcharge will increase by eur12 per flight leg with the exception of
flights to and from Cayenne, Fort-de-France, Pointe-de-Pitre and Reunion,
where it will amount to eur10 per leg. |

Increases Fuel Surcharge
August 20 -- Qantas Airways said on Friday it would raise ticket prices
for the second time in three months to help tackle rising fuel costs,
just a day after posting a record annual profit. |

Air To Raise Fuel Surcharge
August 19 -- The surcharge increases range from USD$4 to USD$12, the company
said in a statement. The Singapore carrier had already imposed a fuel
surcharge of USD$5 per ticket on all its flights worldwide in June after
a rise in US crude oil prices above USD$40 a barrel. |

August 20 -- In a letter to employees distributed Wednesday, Delta Air

August 18 -- ATA Airlines reported a $26 million net loss for the second
quarter ended June 30, a sharp contrast versus net income of $40.8 million

a reduction in operating expenses. |

Hotel Development Pace Quickens, Though Modestly
August 16 -- More than 280 new domestic hotel projects, totaling 35,600
rooms, were announced in the second quarter of this year, representing
the highest new quarterly guest room count in more than two years. The

TSA announced today the award of a $12 million contract to BearingPoint,

transit facilities by creating a nationwide credential that will prevent
unauthorized persons from gaining access to secure areas. |

Airlines To Begin Nonstop Service From Los Angeles To San José,
Costa Rica
August 16 -- American will fly the Los Angeles-San José route using
Boeing 757 aircraft configured with 22 First-Class seats and 166 Main-Cabin
seats. The 757 features large overhead storage bins that allow carry-on
luggage to be stored "wheels first," creating more overall storage
space and making it easier to stow and remove bags. |
