United Implements Ticketing Fees

Beginning on Sept. 9, United will add a fee to tickets purchased at U.S. airport ticket offices and through United reservations offices for calls originating in the United States and Canada.

United will add a $10 fee to tickets purchased at airport ticket counters and a $5 fee to tickets purchased through United reservations offices. The fees, which are effective Sept. 9, apply to domestic and international tickets sold through United reservations centers and U.S. airport ticket offices.

 
Continental Airlines Announces New Service Fees
E ffective immediately, CO will charge service fees when tickets are booked via its reservations centers or airport ticket counters in the United States. Continental will not charge a fee for booking and ticketing on continental.com or at airport self-service kiosks.

A $5 USD fee will apply on tickets purchased via Continental's U.S. reservations centers, and a $10 USD fee will apply on tickets purchased at a U.S. airport ticket counter. The $10 service fee at city ticket offices remains unchanged.

The new non-refundable service fees apply for each domestic or international one-way or roundtrip ticket, and also for OnePass(R) reward tickets. The new service fees are waived, however, for all OnePass Platinum Elite members and their traveling companions booked on the same itinerary. Customers purchasing tickets for military, government, bereavement, or unaccompanied minor travel are exempt from the fees.

Purchasing tickets directly from Continental's Web site, continental.com, remains the most cost effective way to buy Continental Airlines tickets. Customers can purchase tickets and book OnePass reward travel online at continental.com without paying these service fees.


     
American Airlines matches Northwest ticketing fees
Effective Monday, Sept. 6, 2004, American Airlines will implement a $5 service fee for tickets purchased through its U.S. reservations offices. In addition, tickets purchased at airport locations in the U.S. will include a $10 service fee. The non-refundable fee will apply per ticket, whether it is one-way or roundtrip, and also will apply to tickets redeemed as AAdvantage® program awards. The service fees will be waived for AAdvantage Executive Platinum members and AAirpass customers.
United Airlines Customers Fly Three Qualifying Flights to Earn Free Roundtrip Travel
Customers can earn one free* United Economy® roundtrip ticket for every three qualifying flights purchased on United, United Express or Ted between Sept. 7, 2004, and Jan. 31, 2005. For every three flights purchased, eligible Mileage Plus® members can earn up to four free tickets anywhere United flies in the contiguous 48 United States. Delta Air Lines Outlines Transformation Plan
Delta Air Lines outlined key elements of the company's transformation plan intended to launch "the right airline for the new era" by improving its customers' traveling experience while simultaneously ttargeting more than $5 billion in annual cash savings by 2006. The company is on track to deliver by the end of this year through its previously announced Profit Improvement Initiatives (PII) approximately $2.3 billion of the total savings target.
Northwest Airlines Issued Hurricane Flexible Policy
Due to Hurricane Frances, Northwest Airlines has issued a weather waiver. Effective immediately, passengers with confirmed tickets for travel on Northwest Airlines September 1 through September 5, 2004 to, from or through Daytona Beach, Ft. Lauderdale, Jacksonville, Miami, Orlando or West Palm Beach may reschedule their trip and begin outbound or return travel through Wednesday, September 8, 2004 without penalty or fees subject to availability.
Southwest Airlines Issued Hurricane Flexible Policy
Customers holding reservations through Sunday, September 5 to/from FLL, JAX, MCO, TPA, and PBI are allowed to rebook their travel in the original class of service without paying any additional charge, travel stand by, or request a refund. Our subsequent flight operations to/from these airports will depend upon Hurricane Frances’ movement inland from the Atlantic Ocean. We are discouraging stanby travel in FLL, MCO, and PBI at this time due to heavy demand.
JetBlue Issued Hurricane Flexible Policy
As a result of the expected path of Hurricane Frances, JetBlue is waiving change fees and all associated fare penalties for customers traveling to and from Ft. Lauderdale, West Palm Beach, Orlando, Tampa or Ft. Myers who are booked for travel from Friday, September 3rd through Monday, September 6th provided travel is rebooked and completed before Thursday, September 16th. Independence Air Prepares for Hurricane Frances
All customers are being advised that the airline will waive the regular $25 change fee as well as any fare differences for passengers flying to or from Jacksonville or Savannah -- the Independence Air cities expected to experience the greatest impact as the storm moves up the Atlantic coast. Customers traveling from now through Monday, September 6th will not be required to pay the $25 fee or any difference in fare for flights to or from these two cities.
United Express to Offer New Nonstop Service to Northwest Arkansas
August 31, 2004 — United Express will introduce three daily nonstop roundtrips between Chicago and Northwest Arkansas Regional Airport (XNA), serving Bentonville and the surrounding area. In addition, United Express will offer one new daily nonstop roundtrip between Denver (DEN) and the Northwest Arkansas Regional Airport, making United Express the only nonstop service in this market. Flights for these routes open for sale today, with service beginning Oct. 31, 2004.
 
United Airlines Applies For Authority to Fly Nonstop Between San Francisco-Guangzhou
August 31 -- United filed an application with the U.S. Department of Transportation for the authority to launch daily, nonstop service between San Francisco International Airport (SFO) and the new Baiyun International Airport (CAN) in Guangzhou, Guangdong Province, in the People’s Republic of China. United has the opportunity to apply for the right to fly daily between San Francisco and Guangzhou as part of a recent historic aviation agreement between the governments of the People’s Republic of China and the United States. If approved, United intends to begin San Francisco-Guangzhou service using Boeing 777 aircraft via Tokyo in March 2005 and upgrade it to nonstop Boeing 747 service in 2006.

TSA to Test New Passenger Screening System
The Transportation Security Administration (TSA) today announced it will move forward to test a new passenger-prescreening program called Secure Flight. The decision follows completion of a thorough review of the computer-assisted passenger prescreening system (CAPPS II) proposal ordered by Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Secretary Tom Ridge in July. Based on the results of this review, TSA modified its earlier passenger prescreening proposal to create the new Secure Flight program.
Hilton To Check In Guests Online
August 31-- Hilton Hotels Corp. today announced that, starting in October, guests booked at its hotels can check in online 24 hours in advance. Carlson Hotels Worldwide earlier this month said it will begin testing a similar service at its Radisson hotels in September. The Hilton service, however, is only available to high-ranking members of its frequent guest program, while all guests are eligible for the Radisson remote checkin, which is called Express Yourself.
