Air New Zealand Ground Staff To Strike Friday

Air New Zealand ground staff at two main airports are due to strike early on Friday, but the airline said it was moving to minimize disruption. READ DETAILS

The airline said around 400 staff will strike between 2 a.m. on Friday (1300 GMT, Thursday) and midnight (1100 GMT, Friday) at the country's largest airport, Auckland, and in the South Island city of Christchurch.

Around 10,000 passengers are expected to travel through Auckland on Friday.

The airline said it was moving staff from other parts of the company to cover for striking workers, who load baggage, cargo and issue tickets.

The strike follows a breakdown in talks on a pay claim.
