industry adjusts after London attacks
In the wake of Thursday's rush-hour terrorist bombings
in central London, airlines and hotels responded by
waiving cancellation fees or letting passengers rebook
at a later date with no penalty. Many travelers, meanwhile,
adopted a stiff upper lip. And industry experts said
they doubted the deadly attacks would have a lasting
effect on what has been a banner year for U.S. tourism
to Britain. MORE
Amtrak
Raises Security Threat Level
July 7, 2005 -- Amtrak has increased the railroad's
security threat level in response to the terrorist
bombings in London's transit system. This means Amtrak

in stations, aboard trains and along the railroad.
The heightened security involves deployment of more
officers and K-9 teams as well as briefings to the
railroad's employees reminding them to continue to
be vigilant and on alert for suspicious activity.

Blasts Hit Airline Stocks, But Flight Schedules Unaffected
July 7, 2005 -- The string of explosions in central
London this morning caused airline stocks on both
sides of the Atlantic to fall amid fresh terrorism
fears. Transportation systems throughout the city
were shut down in the aftermath, initially including
bus and rail links to area airports, though such services
as Heathrow Express have been at least partially restored.
Meanwhile, flight operations at London airports at
press time were not affected, according to airport
operator BAA. MORE
