New Orleans airport closed to tourists: Normal operations may not resume for months
It may be a couple of months before tourists can return to New Orleans via the city's Louis Armstrong International Airport, but aviation director Roy Williams said the airport is "open and operational" despite some hurricane damage. MORE

Amtrak Revised Service Information - City of New Orleans, Crescent, Sunset Limited -
September 1, 2005 -- Due to Hurricane Katrina and severe damage across the Southeast, Amtrak continues to implement a revised service plan for its City of New Orleans trains, which operate daily between Chicago and New Orleans; the Crescent trains, which operate daily New York and New Orleans; and the Sunset Limited trains, which operate three-days-weekly, between Los Angeles and Orlando, via New Orleans. Northwest Air cites bankruptcy threat

US Airways Resumes Normal Operations at All Gulf State Airports Except New Orleans
Aug. 31, 2005 -- US Airways and US Airways Express have resumed normal flight schedules in all cities served in the Central and Eastern Gulf Coast region, with the exceptions of New Orleans, following Hurricane Katrina. New Orleans service has been canceled at this time through the originating flight on Wednesday, Sept. 7, 2005. MORE
