Air ceases operations
Jan 3, 2006 -- It is not a happy new year for
Independence Air or its 2,700 remaining employees.
The discount carrier announced Monday it would
discontinue all flights after Jan. 5. More
Travel-On has carefully
reviewed all records and identified those passengers
ticketed for travel on Independence Air after
January 5, 2006. All passengers have been contacted
and assisted with alternate arrangements. |

Jan 3, 2006 -- Independence Air has repeatedly
said that even with a successful reorganization
its common stock would be worthless, leaving shareholders
with nothing. But the airline does have assets,
and prospects for its creditors appear mixed.

reports sluggish November growth
Jan 4, 2006 -- IATA's November international traffic
report indicated a 6.1% rise in RPKs over the
year-ago month and 2.8% growth in cargo. "Overall

2006 Pivotal Year for Airlines
Jan 2, 2006 -- The U.S. airline industry is coming
off an up-and-down year that saw two major carriers
file for bankruptcy but others begin to pull out
of a nosedive that began in 2001. Losses at the
biggest U.S. airlines since the economic downturn
in 2001 were expected to approach $30 billion.

Dec 28, 2005 -- Continental Airlines wants a better
deal for its regional aircraft. The Houston-based
airline plans to withdraw 69 of 274 regional jet
aircraft from its capacity purchase agreement
with ExpressJet Holdings Inc. and ExpressJet Airlines
Inc. in hopes of getting a better price from another
vendor.

a proposed settlement with the airline. The deal would
