Airways offers standby travel to ATA customers
Apr. 4, 2008 - US Airways Group Inc. is accepting tickets for standby
travel from passengers who were scheduled to fly on ATA Airlines flights
to and from the Hawaiian Islands and Mexico.

Airlines Bankruptcy: Should Travelers Save Money?
According to Associated Press, ATA Airlines has filed bankruptcy today,
leaving thousands of travelers stranded. ATA Airlines is the tenth
largest airline in the United States. Regardless of the underlying
reasons, leaving traveler's stranded is a sign of poor management.
Their future looks very bleak because the trust traveler's put in
their airline is an important part of staying in business.
'Open
skies' not likely to mean lower fares
The "open skies" pact reached between the United States
and European Union should bring many benefits to travelers. Airlines
will be free to serve any point-to-point trans-Atlantic route. More
competition will bring more choice and hopefully better service. But
with soaring fuel prices and economic gloom, and with airlines already
offering the cheapest price options for years, don't hold your breath
for lower fares.
