Flu
Update May 8: Travel Screening
Continues
A number
of countries have enacted special
examination procedures for flights
arriving from North America. The
procedures vary from taking every
passengers' temperature and quarantining
those with a fever (Japan) to exiting
all passengers through a thermal
sensor and examining those who set
off the meter (Taiwan) to personally
interviewing each passenger and examining
those displaying any signs of illness
(Australia). Reports from travelers
indicate these additional procedures
can take up to an hour. Travelers
are advised to allow for this additional
time in planning their schedules.

Mexico for travel within certain
dates to reschedule or apply the
ticket to a new destination without
penalty. Please consult the links
below for up-to-date policies for
each airline.
Where Can I Get More Information? The
following links provide additional
information concerning the outbreak,
arrival procedures by country, and
what companies can do to prepare,
sample sick policies, etc.
Airlines
Seek to Reassure Passengers in
Outbreak
So carriers are doing their utmost
to reassure passengers that in the
absence of travel restrictions by
the World Health Organization, air
travel is still safe, while accommodating
those who may not wish to fly.

it easier for the Embassy or Consulate

Travel: A Guide to Luggage Delivery Services
Have your luggage shipped instead of checking
it in on your next flight. Last year, 3.1
million pieces of luggage were reported
lost, delayed, or damaged. Perhaps that
explains why, regardless of the recession,
sales are still strong at luggage delivery
firms. If you are toting a golf bag or
heavy suitcase, or just want to avoid baggage
check-in, luggage delivery may be worth
the (rather hefty) price. |
