Airlines Makes Codeshare Agreement with UAE Carrier
American Airlines announced a new codeshare agreement
with Middle Eastern carrier Etihad Airways. If the deal
with Etihad Airways, the national airline of the United
Arab Emirates, gains government approval, American Airlines
will be able to place its "AA" code on Etihad
services between Abu Dhabi and New York (JFK), Chicago
(ORD), Paris (CDG), Dublin, Frankfurt, Manchester and
Milan (MXP).

For a long time, I’ve thought this idea was beyond
far-fetched, with about as much basis in reality as Uncle
Sam extending funds to the equally plagued news media.
Airlines have been adamant that they don’t want
any such rescue, and it would be well-nigh impossible
to muster sympathy from a bailout-weary public tired
of shoddy airline service. Everyone hates this idea.

France unveils first A380, New York to be first destination
Air France has unveiled their first example of the Airbus
A380 at an Airbus facility in Hamburg. The airline, a
unit of largest European airline conglomerate Air France-KLM,
has also said the A380 will be used on the premier Paris
Charles de Gaulle – New York JFK route on a daily
frequency, beginning in November 2009.

United Airlines will offer nonstop service from Kansas
City International Airport to San Francisco International
Airport starting Oct. 25, the Kansas City Aviation Department
said Wednesday.
