Higher
airfares thwart vacation travelers
High airfares may be pricing
many leisure travelers out of vacations. July fares,
for instance, were 20% higher than in July 2009. And
extra fees for such services as checking bags can

taxes: Pretty bad and getting worse
Taxation
without representation! To a citizen of a democracy, "that's

to fly. Read

traveling by private jet, AJC writer Christine Negroni
reports. Over the past decade, the number of people
choosing to travel by private jet has grown, with
people either buying a fraction of a share of an airplane,
or a jet card that guarantees a set number of flight
hours, Negroni writes. Read

Pets
and Air Travel
The
dangers summer weather poses for pets was highlighted
on Aug. 3 when seven puppies died after being unloaded
from an American Airlines flight from Tulsa to Chicago.
Hot weather in Oklahoma is suspected as a factor in
the animals’ deaths. The airline is awaiting necropsy
results, American spokeswoman Mary Frances Fagan said
Monday in an email. Read
