Delta Flight Attendants Reject Union

The Association of Flight Attendants said it will file an interference claim against Delta's management for intimidating union supporters, an allegation Delta rejected. There were 9,544 votes cast against and 8,778 in favor of joining the AFA union. Voting ended Wednesday after a five-week campaign of often heated rhetoric on both sides. Read more

A380 operators carry out inspections in wake of Qantas engine failure

The three operators of Rolls-Royce Trent 900-powered Airbus A380s followed the engine manufacturer's recommendations to conduct "basic precautionary engine checks" in the wake of the uncontained failure of an engine on a Qantas A380 that had just taken off from Singapore on Thursday. Read more

The UK Invokes Tougher Security Checks on Air Cargo Shipments

The UK introduced tougher security checks on air cargo shipments from the Middle East, south Asia and North Africa following last week's discovery of bombs on two U.S.-bound flights. The government has revoked over 30 transshipment exemptions that exclude freight from screening if it is passing through UK airports to a third destination. Read more

American Airlines Starts Codeshare With Airberlin

American Airlines said on Thursday that it has launched its codeshare with airberlin, the second-largest airline in Germany. Codeshare agreements allow airlines to sell tickets on each other's flights. Airberlin flies to 160 cities in Europe, Russia, the Middle East and North America. It is owned by Air Berlin PLC. Cancel for any reason? Insurance claim trips traveler

Travel insurance policies generally limit their trip cancellation coverage to so-called covered reasons, which typically include illness and accidents before your trip, a fire destroying your home, or weather disasters at your destination.
