Air Canada Strike Advisory

The Canadian Auto Workers (CAW) union, which represents many of Air Canada’s customer service agents, has indicated that it will proceed with a strike beginning as early as 12:01 a.m. EDT, June 14, 2011 if an agreement is not reached. Air Canada has indicated a strike would impact Air Canada’s call centers, as well as check-in and gate operations for Air Canada and Air Canada Express flights at nine airports in Canada, including: Calgary, Edmonton; Halifax; Montreal; Ottawa; St. John's Toronto Pearson; Winnipeg; and Vancouver.

In response, Air Canada has indicated that it will continue to operate a full flight schedule if a strike does occur. Air Canada has acknowledged that back-ups at airport check-in may occur and that long wait times may ensue when calling Air Canada.
