New Fare Rules on American, Delta, United

Over the past two weeks American, Delta, and United have begun pricing multi-segment itineraries significantly higher when combined in one ticket versus purchased as multiple one-way tickets. Any trip that is not just a single one-way (point A to B) or a simple roundtrip (A to B to A) is potentially affected. The savings realized by purchasing separate tickets can be considerable – in some cases up to $1500. This new rule primarily affects travelers booking online where all flights are automatically priced together as one ticket. We hope the airlines will revert back to the old rules, but until we see how this situation plays out we recommend that travelers with multi-stop or circle itineraries who normally book online consider booking with an agent instead to ensure the best fare. If a traveler wants to continue booking online we strongly encourage that he compare the price for the entire itinerary vs booking each segment separately. Note that Deem and Concur will apply a service fee to each ticket. For additional information please see: TRAVEL ALERT. If you have any questions, please speak with your Travel-On account manager.
