United's Low-fare Service
February 12 - Ted, the new low-fare service from United, took to the skies for the first time today on its designated inaugural flight from Denver to Ft. Lauderdale, Fla. Passengers aboard were among the first to enjoy the relaxed and friendly Ted experience that combines low fares with outstanding service.

United Airlines Begins Daily Non-Stop Service Today Between Washington Dulles and San Jose, Costa Rica
Feb 12 -- The new daily service will use Boeing 757 aircraft configured with 24 seats in United First® and 158 seats in United Economy®. The southbound flight departs Washington Dulles at 5:30 p.m. and arrives in San Jose at 9:17 p.m. The return flight will depart daily from San Jose at 10:15 a.m. and arrive at Washington Dulles at 3:46 p.m.

US Airways Offer Buy Three Get Free Travel Award
Feb. 12 -- US Airways is offering a "Buy Three Online, Get One Free*" program which rewards customers with free* travel for purchasing tickets and flying on US Airways, US Airways Express or US Airways Shuttle between Feb. 13, 2004 and June 15, 2004.

US Airways to Upgrade Baggage System at Philadelphia
Feb. 11 -- US Airways announced today that, pending final approval by the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) and the Philadelphia International Airport, it is ready to begin a $2.7 million upgrade of its baggage handling system at Philadelphia International Airport to improve customer service standards. US Airways hopes to begin construction in early March, with work to be completed in time for the start of the peak summer travel season.

Continental Airlines Starts Fly Three, Get One Free; Free Tickets For Customers Traveling Through June 15
Feb. 12 -- Continental Airlines today announced a "Fly Three, Get One Free" promotion to reward business travelers who fly three qualifying trips by June 15 with a free electronic ticket.

American and Alaska Airlines Begin Codeshare Expansion
Feb 10 -- American Airlines, Alaska Airlines, and its affiliate, Horizon Air, today begin operating the first flights under their expanded marketing cooperation and codeshare relationship.

Hilton extends rate guarantee to agents
Feb 12 -- Hilton guarantees that starting Feb. 17 a customer with a confirmed reservation made by a travel agent for any Hilton hotel will not find a lower, unrestricted rate for the room through any other third party source.

Air France-KLM merger gets EC approval
Feb 11 -- Air France and KLM got the go-ahead Feb. 11 from the European Commission to proceed with what the EC called "the first real merger in the European airline industry."
